Blogging is one way to let the world know about us and our interests, what we have to contribute to the blogging community and money making (if possible) but that's another section.
This article will cover the very basic tips of starting a blog. Even though the blogging community has been around several years now, there are still new people putting up blogs every hour of everyday. Those numbers will continue to rise and grow with unprecedented speed as the internet is available to almost everyone in almost every country. So, starting our first blog?
Here are some tips that might just help us.
When we name our blog, we should try to find a catchy title that wil get the peoples attention and that also has relevance to some of the topics that we plan to write on. That pretty much goes with writing the description part of our site also.
Although the templates pretty much have the work down to a minimum for us, we should at least try to learn a little bit of HTML, so that we can understand and troubleshoot our blogs. Knowing a little bit of code is a tremendous help and if there is something wrong with our blog, we can fix it almost instantaneously. Don't be afraid to ask people for help!!
Blog about what drives us. Whether it be your long time or short term goal, your likes/dislikes, what aggravates you, what makes you happy or what you are knowledgable about.
If you are a pro at doing something, that right there gives you and edge over everybody else. Knowledge is power and if you know something that others don't, share it and the world will thank you.
Put your heart and soul into your blog. The results will show for themselves. You don't have to put every waking moment of your life on your blog (unless that's what you do for a living) but try to put the "real" you into your work. If your blog is about money, make it about money. If it's for poetry, make it for poetry. Don't mix too many ideas in one blog, it could be messy. Thinking 'out of the box' will make you see things you didn't before.
If you don't get any traffic when your first starting, don't get discouraged. The truth is, it takes time to build a really good steady flow of traffic to your blog or site. You have to research SEO tips and other ways to make your site search friendly and much more. (Another article along with monetizing your blog the simple way) Building a readership that keeps coming back time and again will also help with your traffic needs.
Contributing your own ideas, opinions and seeing things from a different perspective will always do great things for your site. At least it won't be recycled like so many other sites out there. Learn from your mistakes and others' mistakes. Avoid those mistakes will keep you from wasting your precious time and ideas in the long run.
Making an effort to read other peoples blogs and maybe helping them with their problems if they have any. Leaving comments will most definitely get you some link backs and maybe they will even check out your website. Not a bad trade off if you are just starting in the blogging biz.
Start off small and slow. Write good content on what you know or what you are interested in. Write provocative thought provoking articles that encourage feed back, be it bad or good. At least you get a chance to start interacting with everyone and gives you a stepping stone to the next step whatever that may be for us.
Last but not least. Research EVERYTHING about a certain subject. Before making any assumptions, don't. Get the facts straight first so you don't look like a fool. You are the one who is supposed to know what he's talking about right? Write "over" what you are capable of. What we mean is extend your knowledge about a certain subject, after all no one knows everything about anything. Work hard and you will do well.
There is alot more when you are starting, but for now these are a few things to keep in mind when we are just starting (so as not to make this article too lengthy). After all no one is born a blogger, we have to work hard at it. Peace. Moonburst
